What began as a basement jam at Ben Eldridge’s home in nearby Bethesda evolved into a world-famous bluegrass band, now consisting of Edlridge (banjo and scat singing), Dudley Connell (guitar/lead and baritone vocals), Lou Reid (mandolin/lead and tenor vocals), Fred Travers (dobro/lead and tenor), and Ronnie Simpkins (bass/baritone vocals).
This tour engagement of The Seldom Scene is funded through the American Masterpieces program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the Nation Endowment for the Arts and the Maryland State Arts Council.
