Please join Music Director Alexander Kahn and the Gettysburg College Symphony Orchestra for the explosive finale to our 2012-13 concert season! On Friday April 12 at 8pm in Gettysburg's Majestic Theater the orchestra will perform Hector Berlioz's dazzling Symphonie fantastique. Berlioz's ever-popular program symphony tells a thrilling story of spurned love, with vivid depictions of everything from a ball to an idyll in the countryside to cackling witches along the way! Long famed for its innovations in harmony, rhythm and orchestration, Symphonie fantastique features some of the most colorful and evocative instrumental music ever written.
The concert opens with selections from Gustav Mahler's hauntingly beautiful collection of songs Des Knaben Wunderhorn ("The Boy and his Magic Horn"), with soloist and 2012 Concerto Competition winner Sarah Tuttle.
Admission is $5 for adults. Students, faculty and staff with College ID and children 18 and under have free admission. For ticket information contact the Majestic Box Office at 717-337-8200 or www.gettysburgmajestic.org
