The Gettysburg College Choir and Camerata will give a concert on Saturday, March 23 at 8:00pm at Christ Chapel on the Gettysburg College campus.
This concert is the home concert of their annual spring tour, which included a special theme to help communities affected by Hurricane Sandy and the Newtown CT shootings. The concerts in eastern PA, NJ, NY and CT raised over $4,000 toward those causes. Students also did a work project on the Jersey shore to help with rebuilding in the community.
The concert includes a cappella sacred and secular music, with selections from the Renaissance era by Palestrina and Wilbye, modern pieces by Whitacre, Gjeilo and Stroope, and music with influences from Ireland, Haiti, and India. The concert will also include a performance of A Procession Winding Around Me by Jeffrey Van, for choir and classical guitar, on poetry of Walt Whitman.
ADMISSION: $5 for adults; FREE for children 18 and under and those with a Gettysburg College I.D. Admission at the door by cash or check only; no credit cards.
