Emmitsburg Wattle Waddle-Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot

The 4th annual Emmitsburg Wattle Waddle will be held on Thanksgiving Day morning, Thursday, November 22nd beginning in the Emmitsburg Community Park behind the Town Library. A 5-mile run through the scenic back roads of Emmitsburg and weaving along the base of College Mountain will begin at 8:00 AM followed by a 1-mile fun walk through the town at 9:30 AM. This year’s event features the return of the “Widdle Waddle” obstacle course for children, music, concessions, espresso bar and door prizes. Runners will receive awards by major category and for best Thanksgiving-themed costume. Proceeds benefit Hope Alive, a local ministry serving homeless women and children with transitional housing and support. For more information and to register, go to www.EmmitsburgTurkeyTrot.com
About Hope Alive
Hope Alive is a Christian-based, residential program empowering homeless women and their children with the services and skills needed to build a self-sustaining future. Founded in 2002, the organization raised funds to purchase and renovate what would become Hope Alive’s home, located on 12 acres in Sabillasville, Maryland. Hope Alive offers a four-phase program and comprehensive support services to address the issues at the root of each family's homelessness. Resident families can stay for up to two years while learning new skills and working toward self-sufficiency. Since 2006, the organization has served 38 families, including 74 children.
